为何这里用目前分词？

为何这里例句2中用的是被动形式，而例句1却不可以呢？

——被动语态be removed from...与......相去甚远。so far 作状语。看作主系表也可。
不同是：第一句 remove 不及物，等于move，第二句 remove 及物，等于separate。
